About Us
The Past

In 1966 Lyndon Johnson was the President, the Vietnam War was dragging on, the Beatles were apologizing for John Lennon's statement that they were "more popular than Jesus", Caesars Palace hotel and casino opens in Las Vegas, and race riots were breaking out all over the country. During these times in our countries history, good news was hard to come by but it was during these times that God laid a burden on the heart of a local business man and missionary to start a Christian radio station. Maumee Valley Broadcasting Association was established and a group of Christian men were chosen to serve as a board of directors for the new ministry.
Originally, the call letters that the FCC issued to the station were WSTT. The new board members of the station quickly came up with the slogan "We're Saved To Tell." However, another radio station in the region complained to the FCC that WSTT sounded too similar to their own call letters so the FCC issued a new set of call letters to the station and WPOS was born.
Today WPOS is still governed by a carefully selected board of directors from different churches and professional backgrounds. The station serves as an outreach resource for many local ministries and the attached Christian Center serves as a concert, trade show, and conference venue as well as an attractive fitness center.

The Present

Now days WPOS is one of just 75 radio stations in America that report to the Southern Gospel charts however, that doesn't keep us from playing an eclectic mix of Praise and Worship, Contemporary Christian, Christian Folk, and Black Gospel. Then, overnight listeners can enjoy comforting traditional music including hymns and sacred music of the church.
In addition to the music on WPOS nearly 60% of the programming is anointed preaching and teaching by some of the nation's greatest ministries. Billy Graham, Chuck Swindoll, Alistair Begg, and Gary Chapman just to name a few. Local ministries many of which record their church services and edit their own programs round out the broadcast day nicely.
The Christian Center boasts a full schedule of concerts, conferences, athletic leagues, bible studies, youth programs and wedding receptions. Youth ministry directors are using the expansive WPOS property (including acres and acres of woodland) to host camp-outs campfire services.
The Future
Every Christian's desire is that the Lord would return and we could all go home to be with Him in Heaven but until that happens WPOS is dedicated to reaching as many people with the Gospel message as possible.
We are living in a world of facebook, twitter, instant communication, and new media. WPOS is committed to helping churches adjust to the changing times by launching an initiative to provide technology services to congregations and pastors that are on the front lines, trying to reach the lost souls in their respective communities. Every church, (even those of the same denomination) is different and sovereign in it's own way and likewise each one will require specific technology tools to reach their circle of influence for Jesus.
Although the initiative is in the early planning stages, services like audio/video, websites, printing, publishing, and music training and assistance have been discussed.
There is talk of a family fitness center, Christian coffee house and deli, and a regular summer camp program for music, drama, and ministry. Stay tuned to see what happens next because with God, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! Matthew 19:26
