Good News? Sharathon Pledges exceeded our 2008 Goal

Challenge now…is to collect the pledged amount

Our Faith Partners responded with an outpouring of generosity, in prayer and finance as 2007 came to a close. The harsh realities, consistent with the harsh weather of winter, are that we have fallen considerably below our comfort level when it comes to donations received.

We are aware, personally and corporately, of the frailties of our economy. Granted this is a current national condition. Even more importantly in our broadcast area are some of the grimmest stories out there. Life’s essentials like fuel for home and auto, groceries, and healthcare costs are soaring. Daily, print and broadcast media are replete with story after story of the mortgage crisis.

My first word of encouragement is to not let anything deter you from continuing make your tithes and offerings to your local church.

Second, continue to allow the LORD to manage all of your finances. The Bible has more verses concerning our finances than any other topic.

Third, continue to pay the obligations we all incur as a part of our daily lives.

Then, and only then, are we comfortable with you being faithful to your pledged amount to your “Hometown Christians Radio Station.” You may have heard us discuss, from time to time, that only 4 or 5 % of our listeners offer any financial support to WPOS. We recognize many of you have incomes that just don’t allow for such disposable income. However, if possible we invite those with the ability to make a gift that will help us through these trying financial times.

Whatever your circumstances or ours…we pray all of God’s richest blessings for you, your family, and your ministry; asking you to pray for us as we pray for you…In Our Master’s Name.

Blessings

Sharathon 2008 deemed a success, 2007 was too!

It is always with a feeling of humbleness to report, once again, our Faith Partners have responded with gifts and pledges in excess of our Sharathon goal. The goal was the highest ever in the history of WPOS, $ 525,000. That is a $ 75,000. increase over just two years ago. Radio, and its technologies, is increasingly expensive each year. Your Hometown Christian Station has a mission to bring you the finest in Christian music, teaching, and programming. And with enough features to give you few, if any, reasons to listen to any other station.

The most current numbers for Sharathon show us to have 1509 Faith Partners for 2008. They pledged a total of $ 525,025. Of those 1509 partners, 111 were new to WPOS (Several were returning after not pledging for several years), and 89 are All Day or Special Day partners. Pledges continue to arrive weekly. Remember, you may make a pledge at any time. Either call the office during business hours or go to the home page www.wposfm.com

The year 2007 ended on an awesome high note. Donations exceeded $425,000. (You can see the need to collect as many of the Faith Pledges as possible. Our December income was a monthly record, exceeding $ 80,000. Contrasted with June, July, August amounts of less than $ 25,000. monthly, again you can see our needs.

Recent numbers also tell us we have a weekly average listenership of about 30,000. Doing the math, you can see barely 5% of our listeners carry the entire financial burden of your Hometown Christian Station. If you are enjoying any part of the ministry I would encourage you to come on board for the additional blessings that you will enjoy with your financial support.

We continue to covet your prayerful and financial support. It is appreciated endlessly.
Please continue to pray for us…as we pray for you…in Our Master's name

Friday morning December 7 found the WPOS staff praising the LORD for the 2008 Sharathon results to date.
We reached dollar and Faith Partner plateaus He ordained for us.

Pledges and donations continue to arrive daily. We are very close to the $500K level. While we determine our Sharathon goals with a prayerful worldview, only Our Father really knows what we will need, what we will receive, and when we will receive it.

The 2008 Sharathon did not end Thursday evening, December 6. Our financial needs are great and ongoing. As the LORD leads, we would ask you to stay faithful to “Your Home Town Christian Station” in prayer and finance throughout the coming months.

…and please pray for us, as we pray for you,

2008 Sharathon set for December 4, 5, and 6. Goal is $525,000

Dear Friends and Family…

The calendar is turning toward our annual three-day Sharathon. The one period each year set aside for raising our annual budget through your prayerful Faith pledges.

Our goals this year are $525,000. and 1800 Faith Partners. We trust the LORD that together we can reach these goals. Quality radio continues to become more expensive by the year. Your support is needed more today than ever before.

WPOS continues to grow through your contributions. Our twin missions, and we ask you to join us in these quests, are 1) Minister through song and sermon to the lost; and 2) Encourage and edify the believer. This is how your contributions are used. Be it equipment, staff, or the Christian Center activities, you are the most vital cog in the WPOS “wheel.”

With your continued, and prayerfully expanded, support we can continue this ministry. Various equipment continues to need upgraded every year. We have a most pressing need for a new tower and antenna. A need which is more necessary with each passing month.

While we constantly search for alternative streams of income, the lifeblood at WPOS has always been and will always be, the Faith Partners. Without your help, no progress can be made.

I assure you that the board of trustees and the staff are most diligent in determining the need and validity of every dollar spent from your gifts. The Finance Committee of the Board meets regularly to monitor the overall picture.
As your General Manager, I scrutinize every spending decision. We always operate in a mindset of prayer and frugality.

As we look to 2008 and beyond…your gifts will bless untold numbers of souls as we go about Our Father’s business building His Kingdom. What a joy it will be for all of us to hear “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

Not one of us can hope to know, this side of Heaven, how many lives have been changed and souls saved by our working together with “Your Hometown Christian Station.”

Please join us on this wonderful journey…and let’s keep trading prayers.
Please pray for us as we pray for you…

In Our Master’s Name…
