We want to thank you for your help with the 2010 WPOS share-a-thon…the three days we took to raise money to keep spreading God’s Good News to the Toledo, Ohio area at 102.3 MHz. on the FM dial.

As you may know, we did not reach our goal. Last year we missed our mark as well, but, also as you know, God provides…and we finished this past year with a small surplus. We are optimistic that as we continue to be careful and prayerful with our spending that we will continue a healthy ministry until the Lord’s return.

As you probably know, Jake is leaving WPOS to join the Gospel group the Booth Brothers in Nashville. We are going to miss him terribly and are actually working toward keeping him on in a consultative position.

Keep praying for the ministry of WPOS as we continue to help further the Good News of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

We Proclaim Our Savior

It’s hard to believe that a year has passed since I came back home to WPOS.

Within that year we’ve seen a lot of challenges…but we also have seen God’s hand moving and blessings from that movement.

WPOS, along with the rest of the area and country, has seen hard times. However, we want to concentrate on some of the wonderful things happening at the radio station and the WPOS Christian Center.

This past year we instituted several wonderful programs and partnerships.

1) We’ve teamed up with Fountain Media to build a state-of-the-art recording and videotaping facility. This allows us to help other ministries as together We Proclaim Our Savior.
2) We’ve teamed up with various churches and Gospel groups to produce hymn-sings at WPOS.
3) Our Christian Center has hosted a number of interesting programs. Included in that have been programs relating about good health—to our history and government—and of course Gospel Music concerts.

Our theme this year is “Revive Us Again.” While this is a theme appropriate for any time—with the current national situation, we feel it is increasingly important to keep in mind during these times. Please join us as we continue to Proclaim Our Savior to Northwestern Ohio and Southeastern Michigan.

Our Share-A-Thon will kick off with a revival meeting on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Christian Center, 7112 Angola Rd. in Holland, Ohio. We hope you join us.

Thanks for listening…thanks for supporting this ministry!

Yours In Christ, Al Gaige Station Manager

Share-A-Thon Thoughts…
As a Christian non-profit organization, 501c3, WPOS enjoys an inherent transparency.  As Hebrew National hot dogs slogan says, we answer to a higher power.  For the past 42 years, WPOS has answered to that higher power by broadcasting the good news that only a relationship with Jesus Christ brings.
Whenever one gives to a charitable organization, one needs to answer three important questions.  As a former board member of various United Way agencies, including serving as an officer of Big Brothers/ Big Sisters…I can tell you first hand the importance of answering these three questions:

  1. Why should I give to you?
  2. What will you do with my money?
  3. How will you measure success?

Our mission is very simple…it’s in our call letters…WE PROCLAIM OUR SAVIOR.  We provide an important outlet that is lacking in this world.  Through the word of God and spiritual, uplifting music, we provide a service to Northwest Ohio and Southeastern Michigan.
WPOS is as close as your radio or on-line computer…whether at home, or in your car, or even at work, you can tune into 102.3 or stream audio from wposfm.com  and hear the message of God.  Through the WPOS Christian Center, we provide a place to gather with fellow Christians from all denominations to share in fellowship through sports, or live music, or simple bible study.
As a radio station, our needs are many…from staff to electricity and other utilities to erecting a new tower.  As a 42 year old business, we have had to replace many important pieces of equipment that are very expensive.  We are in need of a new tower.  A few years ago, the present tower suffered wind damage and is in dire need of replacement.  It will cost in excess of $300,000 to replace our tower.  We recently had to replace our boiler…plus we need to constantly maintain our sensitive radio broadcasting equipment, from computers to transmitters.
We measure success by the wonderful comments we receive from our listeners and the generous donations we receive.  While we always enjoy the large contributions we receive, we really appreciate the number of dollar bills that come in…or when a 91 year old lady writes a check apologizing for not being in a position to send more…because we know that those people are sacrificing to continue to enjoy the mission of WPOS.
This is a ministry…it’s an outreach to the lost…a refreshing respite for the body of Christ, his church.  We take that ministry seriously and appreciate all you do to help it continue!
COME HOME TO WPOS—there is nothing that touches the heart as home and family.  WPOS is a family in the body of believers of Jesus Christ.  It’s our privilege to carry Christ’s message to the unsaved and the saved.
When I sit in the studio and talk to folks, I zero in on one particular person.  Over this short time, I’ve met a lot of wonderful ladies and gentlemen at various events we’ve held here and I’ve envisioned different faces as I share thoughts of the message of God.
Home…what pictures does that bring to your mind?  I often think of the mansions of glory that will become our ultimate home.  Re 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.”
We will enjoy dwelling in the tabernacle of God…where only the priests of Israel were allowed to enter…we will be with God, enjoying fellowship with him.  Think of the neatest person you’ve ever had dinner with, or simply sat and had a chat…now amplify it a thousand…a million…a billion…a trillion fold!  We’re going to enjoy fellowship with the creator of this world…this universe…and everything within it.  What a day it will be…GLORY!
Your family may enjoy all of the programming we receive from Focus on the Family…from Family News In Focus, to adventures in Odyssey.  Being your hometown Christian Radio Station, we love bringing local churches such as Emmanuel Baptist Church, Holland Free Methodist, and Monclova Road Baptist Church.  We take a stand by providing Christ centered issue oriented programs like In Context, Jay Sekulow Live, and Crosstalk.  In addition, we pull it all together with Christian music from Southern Gospel to soothing hymns.
WPOS is all about home…so we want to thank you for coming home to WPOS!
